Local Events

What better way to enjoy a short break than to immerse yourself in local life. To help you do that, here are some dates for your diary showcasing the fantastic array of fairs, shows and festivals we have within an hour’s drive from the park.

Many of these events are a huge contributor to the local economies and a massive part of local life. We hope you enjoy any you attend and please let us know which events have been your favourite.

 

 

JUNE

Skipton Artisan Market – Sunday 7th – Held on the first Sunday of each month in the Canal basin, featuring stalls with food, gifts, household items and more. Find out more here.

Skipton Car Show – Sunday 7th – Over 200 vehicles from supercars to American muscle, and vintage vehicles will take over Skipton High Street. Find out more here. 

Barbon Hill Climb – Saturday 13th – The UK’s Shortest hill climb, the aim is simple, get to the top the quickest! Spectator zone with refreshments.

Lowgill Sports – Saturday 13th – An annual local community sports day including plank walk, sack race and much more. Find out more here.

Comedy at the Castle – Friday 19th – Sunday 21st – A lineup of 15 of the UK’s best comics featured over 3  nights, with award winning street food and bar. Find out more here. 

14th Century castle life at Skipton Castle – Saturday 27th/Sunday 28th – Live re-enactment recreating life as it may have been in Skipton in the 14th Century. Find out more here. 

Carnforth 1940’s Weekend – Saturday 27th – Sunday 28th – 1940’s weekend located at Carnforth Station, famous for being featured in Brief Encounter. Find out more here. 

Skipton Sheep Day – Sunday 28th – Annual celebration of Skipton’s heritage, with displays, races, stalls, music and food & drink. Find out more here. 

3 Peaks Golf Festival – Monday 29th – Wednesday 1st July – Our inaugural golfing festival, also featuring Kirkby Lonsdale & Skipton. Find out more here.

Settle Flowerpot Festival – Saturday 11th – Sunday 6th September – Annual display of quirky flowerpot creations, guaranteed to amaze and amuse. Find out more here. 

Meet the Governor at Skipton Castle – Saturday 11th/Sunday 12th – Meet Sir John Malloy, the Governor of Skipton Castle during the English Civil War. Find out more here.

Buckingham’s Retinue at Skipton Castle – Saturday 25th/Sunday 26th – Live Re-enactment where members of the castle household take part in friendly competition, with the chance of audience participation in Sword school & medieval dancing! Find out more here.

AUGUST

Settle Flowerpot Festival – All August – Annual display of quirky flowerpot creations, guaranteed to amaze and amuse. Find out more here. 

Trayned Bandes at Skipton Castle – Saturday 1st/Sunday 2nd – Live Re-enactment following a Civil War Regiment prepare for battle against the Parliamentarian Army. Find out more here.

Ingleton Horse & Dog Show – Sunday 30th – Fun day of horse shows, gymkhana games and charity dog show.

 

SEPTEMBER

Kilnsey Show – Tuesday 1st – Agricultural show that has been marking the end of Summer since 1897. Showcasing farming life through livestock classes, equine events, sheepdog trails, baking, handicrafts, horticulture & the Crag Race. Find out more here.

Grassington 1940s Weekend – Saturday 19th/Sunday 20th – Grassington transforms into a living snapshot of 1940’s England for the weekend, with vintage vehicles, live entertainment and much more. Find out more here. 

Yarndale – Saturday 26th/Sunday 27th – “The Festival of Yarn & Woolly Creativity” returns to Skipton Auction Mart, with a variety  of exhibitors with “yarny” stuff to sell. Find out more here.
