Local Events

What better way to enjoy a short break than to immerse yourself in local life. To help you do that, here are some dates for your diary showcasing the fantastic array of fairs, shows and festivals we have within an hour’s drive from the park.

Many of these events are a huge contributor to the local economies and a massive part of local life. We hope you enjoy any you attend and please let us know which events have been your favourite.

APRIL

Wind in the Willows Outdoor Theatre at Williamson Park in Lancaster, Monday 8th to Thursday 11th April

Join Mole, Ratty, Mr Toad and Badger on a fun and family-friendly adventure down by the riverside as the band of merry friends take you on a theatrical journey you will never forget. Find out more and book tickets here

Wray Scarecrow Festival, Saturday 27th April to Monday 6th May

The nearby village of Wray comes to life during the festival with a fantastic programme of events for over a week. Find out more here

MAY

Scorton Bikes and Barrows Festival, Saturday 4th to Monday 6th May

Scorton, in the Forest of Bowland, is adorned with decorated bicycles and wheelbarrows for the weekend as part of this unique and eclectic festival. Find out more here

Garstang Walking Festival, Saturday 4th to Sunday 12th May

With up to 40 walks for all ages and abilities, the festival is the perfect chance to experience the best of springtime in the company of friendly and knowledgeable walk leaders. Walks take place around Garstang, rural Wyre, the Forest of Bowland and Morecambe Bay. View the programme here

Chipping Steam Fair, Saturday 25th to Monday 27th May

A family -friendly event including steam engines, vintage tractors, cars, bikes, commercial vehicles, classic plant and machinery. funfair, artisan market, arena & children’s entertainment & live music. Find out more here

Austwick Street Market, Cuckoo Festival and Fell Race, Monday 27th May

Another fantastic family event for the bank holiday weekend. Entertainment will include vintage cars, thwaites dray horses, local brass bands, stalls, raffle and a fancy dress parade. Find out more here

JUNE

Slaidburn Steam Fair, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June

Steam engines, vintage tractors and classic cars make this a great weekend to enjoy vehicles from a bygone era. The road to Slaidburn is scenic too. Find out more here.

Skipton Gala, Saturday 8th June

An afternoon of stalls, games, fun fair, entertainment and eateries in the nearby town of Skipton. You can even go by train from Bentham station. Find out more here. Find out more about the train here

Monster Trucks at Thornton Hall Park, Skipton, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June

This is a monster family day out, full of exciting monster trucks and the opportunity to enjoy a farm tour as well as soft play. Find out more here.

Tournee re-enactment at Skipton Castle, Skipton, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June

Tournee recreates life as it may have been in Skipton during the 14th century. Find out more here.

JULY

1940’s Homeguard Weekend, Friday 5th July – Sunday 7th July

Step back in time for a weekend full of nostalgic entertainment in the nearby village of Ingleton. Find out more here.

Leighton Hall Classic Car Show, Carnforth, Sunday 7th July

From 10am until 4pm you can enjoy hundreds of vintage vehicles and classic cars on display on Leighton’s lawn and terrace. Find out more here.

Settle Flowerpot Festival, Saturday 13th July to Sunday 1st September

Free event for all the family. Enjoy an amble around Settle whilst being amazed and amused by the quirky flowerpot display decorating the town. Find out more here.

Yorkshire Highwayman re-enactment at Skipton Castle, Skipton, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June

meet John Nevison one of Britain’s most notorious highwaymen, a gentleman rogue supposedly nicknamed Swift Nick by King Charles II after a renowned 200 mile dash from Kent to York to establish an alibi for a robbery he had committed earlier that day.. Find out more here.

Yorkshire Dales Food and Drink Festival,  Skipton Friday 19th  to Sunday 21st July.

An eclectic mix of food, music experiences and stalls are on display over this foodie-friendly weekend in the nearby town of Skipton. Why not go by train? Find out more here.

The Little Mermaid Outdoor Theatre at Ingleborough Cave, Saturday 20th July

On Saturday 20th July 2024, Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail in collaboration with IK Productions presents The Little Mermaid Open Air Theatre.  Escape under the sea with IKP’s The Little Mermaid on an exciting new adventure! Book tickets here.

Ingleton Gala, Saturday 20th July

A fantastic community event, full of excitement for all ages including local stalls, entertainment and displays. Find out more here

Romeo and Juliet – Outdoor Theatre at Bolton Abbey, Saturday 27th July

Seek Out Festival, Friday 26th to Sunday 28th July

Garstang Show, Saturday 3rd August

Bentham Show, Saturday 7th September

Lancashire Game & Country Festival, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September

A fantastic family and dog friendly event with a food theatre, horse show, fly fishing and have-a-go clays amongst other things. Find out more here.
