What better way to enjoy a short break than to immerse yourself in local life. To help you do that, here are some dates for your diary showcasing the fantastic array of fairs, shows and festivals we have within an hour’s drive from the park.
Many of these events are a huge contributor to the local economies and a massive part of local life. We hope you enjoy any you attend and please let us know which events have been your favourite.
JUNE
Tournee days at Skipton Castle – Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd – Live Reenactments showing how life may have been in the 14th Century. Find out more here.
Carnforth 1940’s Weekend – Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th – Celebrating the 80th anniversary of the iconic film Brief Encounter, which was filmed at Carnforth station. A weekend of liv emusic, vintage vehicles, funfair, jive classes and much more. Find out more here.
Skipton Sheep Day – Sunday 29th June – Annual heritage day celebrating Skipton’s history. Sheep displays and racing, falconry, tractors, food & drink, on main street and in the Canal Basin. Find out more here.
JULY
1940’s Homeguard weekend – Friday 4th – Sunday 6th July – Step back in time for a nostalgia-filled weekend including dancing, singing, stalls & vehicles. More details to be released.
Skipton Artisan market – Sunday 6th (Every first sunday of the month) – Up to 27 stalls featuring food, gifts and household items, mainly homemade, in the Canal Basin. Find out more here.
Skipton Colour Run– Sunday 6th – A Fun family 5k with obstacles, with food stalls, bar, ice cream and music from Your Radio. Find out more here.
Dino Fest – Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th – In honour of Lancastrian palaeontologist Richard Owen, who coined the term ‘Dinosaur’, you can spend the weekend roaming amongst the pre-historic creatures in Lancaster. Find out more here.
Settle Flowerpot Festival – Saturday 12th July – Sunday 7th September – Wander around settle and be amazed by the quirky flowerpot creations. Find out more here.
Maize maze – Saturday 12th July – Sunday 7th September – Lakeland Maze Farm Park’s annual highlight, their themed Maize Maze! Find out more here.
Yorkshire Dales Food & Drink Festival – Friday 18th – Sunday 20th – The highly anticipated return of this festival, featuring celeb chefs, food stalls, live music, funfair and much more. Find out more here.
Heysham Village Viking Festival – Saturday 19th – Sunday 20th – Immerse yourself in true Viking spirit with a captivating village encampment, thrilling battle re-enactments, and an array of Viking-themed activities. Find out more here.
Ingleton Gala – Saturday 19th – Fun for all the family with floats, fancy dress, stalls, refreshments and lots more. More details can be found here.
Hoggs Herder – Saturday 19th – Outdoor music festival at Hoggs ‘n’ Heifers in High Bentham, with BBQ. More details to be released.
Barbon Hillclimb – Saturday 19th – Spectators can enjoy the thrill of watching one of the UK’s fastest hill climbs, and can even access the paddock area where the cars & drivers rest between runs. Catering, free parking and toilets are avaiaible. This is a no dogs allowed event. Find out more here
Summer Rangers at Lakeland Wildlife Oasis – Selected dates 21st July – 20th August – Your 7 – 11 year old can enjoy a full day of themed activities, crafts, feeding, enrichment creation and more! Find out more here.

Bentham Show – Saturday 6th September – Our towns annual agricultural show, now in its 151st year! Takes place in the Auction mart car park. More details to be announced here.
