What better way to enjoy a short break than to immerse yourself in local life. To help you do that, here are some dates for your diary showcasing the fantastic array of fairs, shows and festivals we have within an hour’s drive from the park.

APRIL

St John’s Hospice Kendal Colour Dash – Sunday 19th April – A 5km fun run featuring 5 paint colour stations, meaning you will finish the run with multi-coloured clothes! Find out more here.

71st Annual 3 Peaks Race (Marathon with mountains) – Saturday 25th April – Local marathon race featuring Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside. Find out more here.
Wray Scarecrow Festival & Fair – Saturday 25th – Monday 4th May – Annual festival featuring scarecrows decorated for a theme, this year it is G.O.A.T (Greatest of all time). The week includes a fell race, giant scarecrow parade, maypole dancing, car boot and much more, alongside the scarecrow trail. Find out more here.

Barbon Hill Climb – Saturday 13th – The UK’s Shortest hill climb, the aim is simple, get to the top the quickest! Spectator zone with refreshments.
Lowgill Sports – Saturday 13th – An annual local community sports day including plank walk, sack race and much more. Find out more here.
Comedy at the Castle – Friday 19th – Sunday 21st – A lineup of 15 of the UK’s best comics featured over 3 nights, with award winning street food and bar. Find out more here.

Kilnsey Show – Tuesday 1st – Agricultural show that has been marking the end of Summer since 1897. Showcasing farming life through livestock classes, equine events, sheepdog trails, baking, handicrafts, horticulture & the Crag Race. Find out more here.

Grassington 1940s Weekend – Saturday 19th/Sunday 20th – Grassington transforms into a living snapshot of 1940’s England for the weekend, with vintage vehicles, live entertainment and much more. Find out more here.
